About The Boxer

A German bred dog originally designed for protection, the Boxer is in the Working group and is a well rounded dog well suited for a variety of jobs, including family companion. Typical height of 20-25 inches at the shoulder and 45-80 pounds, the Boxer is a happy dog that is eager to please with a lifespan of 10-14 years average.

The Boxer is a handsome dog that can sport either natural, floppy ears or cropped ears, and either a natural or docked tail. His distinct muzzle gives away his origins connected to the Mastiff lines but his more streamlined conformation provides him an advance to some other breeds in that he is a true athlete capable of being diverse and adaptable to many canine sports and living conditions.
Known to be a great family dog, the Boxer is intelligent, eager to please, and ready for fun. He excels at obedience and is a good watchdog, friendly to all in neutral surroundings but loyal to his home and family on his home turf. This is a great breed choice for anyone looking for a versatile breed that enjoys a variety of activities that does well in a variety of situations. The Boxer loves fetch, hiking, and swimming, and would make a good jogging partner or child’s backyard pal. He loves to be with his family and is an affectionate sweet breed.

Boxers colors are fawn, brindle, reverse brindle, and occasionally white. Dark colored dogs can come with or without white markings and trimmings on the face, legs and chest, with or without a black muzzle. Ears can be naturally floppy or cropped to stand erect, and the tail is either naturally long or docked short.
The coat is short and smooth, with minimal to moderate shedding and is easily maintained by brushing regularly with the occasional bath.
